It makes sense that I haven't posted anything here since spring break almost two months ago. IT HAS BEEN A BUSY, BUMPY ROAD these past six weeks. It's been testing season at school (last AP exam is tomorrow, thank goodness), which is a little intense. Mary Cate was quarantined for two weeks after a classmate got Covid, then Eddie got sick and missed several days of school (not Covid, thankfully, but given Mary's situation, it gave us a scare!) Kevin took one for the team and stayed with her almost the whole time so I could be at school. Then the Wernets had the house fire, and we want to help as much as we can. Nellie had her second surgery and is back in a boot with crutches
In all that, Eddie started piano lessons and soccer, DJ is playing soccer and baseball, Annie is playing softball, and Nellie is registering for her classes for freshman year! It's chaos of our own making. Basically, the last several weeks have involved trying to be in two places at once at all times.
So here we are, just a little the worse for wear. There's a glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel of this year of "weird and hard things," and Kevin and I say. We're three weeks from the end of the school year and we have a long weekend coming up. Summer is in the air and we've been enjoying getting outside as much as possible. It's been fun watching the kids grow and learn and change these past few weeks with all their new activities. And of course, in all the hard things, there are so many lovely moments and beautiful things. God has been faithful to sustain us, that's for sure.

I had the "opportunity" to take Mary to work with me one day and she started a Snuggle Club. She and I are founding members. This is probably my favorite picture of the year - it captures our lives so well. |
