 Luckily, the girls can manage this yearly operation, now! And the eggs turned out cool colors because we dyed our own brown chicken eggs. But it was still a smelly mess.

Eddie plays piano

Last spring during homeschool quarantine, I tried to get the kids to play music every day. Nellie has her flute and Annie likes ukulele, and I tried to teach the boys a little piano. DJ complained bitterly, but Eddie really took to it.

We finally signed him up for piano lessons this spring. Eddie's taking piano with Miss Natalie--my childhood friend and the daughter of my piano teacher! He's very excited and just got his first set of piano books in the mail. Go Eddie!

Weekends are for snuggling

Mary Cate on Friday night:

Mom, it's the weekend, right? So we'll wake up, and get coffee and juice, and then go straight to the couch in the echo room [long story] for snuggling. And we can read books quietly and look out the window. Does that sound like a good plan? 

She knows the routine, though I can't say I'd describe those few minutes of reading time as "quiet." After the somewhat frantic pace of school days, weekends are for snuggling!

Eddie on the afterlife

Eddie has been curious lately about what happens after you die. We've talked about different beliefs, including the idea that you can come back as a new person or thing. He's had lots of questions and thoughts about that. It's fascinating...and a little creepy. Here are a couple deep thoughts he's shared.
