A nice rainy day doesn't have to be an oxymoron

Today I woke up (just a little too early) to the sound of Nellie yelling "Mommyjamie, I can't open my drawer!" because lately she picks out her own clothes before she leaves her room in the morning. We got up and watched a little of her Dora movie from the library, then made a puffed oven pancake, sausages, and melon for breakfast.

By the time we finished eating, Annie was ready for a nap. Nellie and I headed out for the museum, which was a treat because we rarely go out just the two of us. We spent most of the time in the bubble room and at the water table, as usual. We made it home in time to join Kevin and Annie for Disney princess soup for lunch, then it was nap time.

Naps actually coincided today, so I was able to get some statistics homework done and write a little of my paper (the end of the semester is less than 2 weeks away!) while Kevin called turkeys in the woods across the street. When the girls were both awake, we took a family trip to Target for new throw pillows to match the new rug, then to Qdoba for dinner (we had a coupon) and Coldstone for dessert (ahhhh).

Everyone came home happy, so after Annie went to bed we let Nellie break out her new finger paints which was both an enormous mess and a lot of fun. After a quick bath, she went to bed without too much fuss. Now we're listening to the Tigers beat the Rangers and looking at pictures from the last couple of months that Kevin just put on the computer.

When the major catastrophe of the day is when the dog walks on the wet finger paint pictures on the bathroom floor, you know it's a good one.
